Together we can change
the narrative
Our mission is to unite compassionate individuals, organisations and communities to alleviate poverty, promote sports & education and foster sustainable development in low income communities. Founded in 2022, Rethusahetse, our work focuses on empowering vulnerable populations guided by 3 core values;
Empowerment
We work alongiside communities to help unlock potential through skills development and sustainable opportunities. We believe in fostering self-reliance, where every individual must develop the tools and confidence to create a brighter future,
Experiential Learning
True growth comes from learning by doing. Our work supports environments where all parties involved must get their hands dirty and exchange knowledge, time and skills. This is how we create lasting impact in the communities we work with.
Paying it Forward
There are many ways to pay it forward. We encourage anyone looking for ways to give back to a good cause to donate their time, non-perishable consumables or money to either of the causes we support at Rethusahetse. There are several ways you can get involved.
Retusahetse
Grocery Scheme
Our grocery scheme organises food drives in low-income communities, focusing on collecting canned goods and non-perishable donations from the public. By partnering with local businesses and volunteers, the program creates convenient drop-off points for donors. These donations are then sorted, packaged, and distributed to families in need, ensuring that no one goes hungry.
ECD Training
Program
Our Early Childhood Development (ECD) program is dedicated to supporting crèches in low-income communities with educational skills, resources & donated toys. We focus on equipping crèche staff with the tools and training necessary to create enriching, school-preparatory environments for young children.
Community
Gardens
Our community gardens transform under utilised land in townships into vibrant urban farms, cultivating fresh produce that directly supports the community. By empowering local residents with sustainable farming skills and providing access to organic produce, the initiative fosters food security and strengthens community bonds.
Tennis
Academy
The Township Tennis Academy is a grassroots initiative dedicated to nurturing young talent by providing structured tennis training to youth in underserved communities. Beyond athletic development, the academy emphasizes the importance of education, encouraging children to stay in school and achieve their matric, thereby reducing high school dropout rates.
We actively invest in our reporting capabilities, prioritising rigorous monitoring and evaluation on
all projects. We scope KPIs into our reporting framework that emphasise the transparency and
